Our Students

Here are pictures of the first two students who have been able to complete their studies thanks to the support of the Lalibela Educational Trust. Click here to read their personal story.

Tigist

Tigist is the sister of Amdemariam (Amde) who was the first child to be sponsored. Tigist teaches music and PE and since graduating has gained practical teaching experience.  A legacy enabled her to start studying in 2009 for a three-year degree in History and Civic Studies at Bahirdar University.

Woynshet

Woynshet completed a three-year Nursing Diploma from the Africa Health College in Addis Ababa. She is now working in a clinic in Lalibela; she plans to return to studying at a later stage to gain degree-level Nursing qualifications.

Fanaye

Congratulations to Fanaye who in summer 2009 successfully completed her Nursing Studies in Addis Ababa.  She then did some work experience while waiting for her licence and then obtained employment.

Currently, LET supports several students, including Amdemariam who is due to complete his Tourism studies in Summer 2010,  and Tureye who is studying to become a nurse. As they complete their studies, other young people will come and take their place. The trust is committed to supporting all the children currently in the sponsorship project until they have completed their higher education.
